Current news #12: Upcoming iKeePass version 1.2
January 21st, 2010Current news #11: Update submission rejected
November 19th, 2009
Apple has rejected our first submission of the iKeePass update version 1.1 due the use of one so called non public function. This function is shown in many sample around the net and in many books. So if you are a iPhone developer, be careful what you use.
We will change these function calls and try again.
Current news #10: Using DropBox and iKeePass
November 16th, 2009As some of you have already mentioned in the comments, you can use DopBox as a server to sync your KeePass database on your iPhone.
You must use you public folder at the moment, but you can delete your database immediately after your syncing. We are working to support HTTP authorization in the next version.
1. Copy your KeePass database to your public DropBox folder.
2. Display the DropBox URL for this file.
3. In the Server field, type in your DropBox URL without the database file name:

4. Press the “+” button and type in your database file name:

5. Press the “Open” button and type in your database password.

6. Delete the KeePass database file in your public DropBox folder.
Hints: If you are getting a error message “Database is corrupt”, then your username or your password is wrong, or a web authorization is required, which is not supported by iKeePass at the moment.
You can use the settings above to get a test database for iKeePass and check the DropBox way of syncing.

Source code is already at github. iKeePass version 1.1 is already sent to the App Store, but not yet released by Apple.
Update: Not yet released by Apple, no response until now.
Current news #8: iKeePass in AppStore (USA and Canada)
October 25th, 2009We finally done it, iKeePass now is in the Apple AppStore, due the BIS export restrictions only in the USA and Canada AppStore. Now we will work to get the BIS status to get the app in alle AppStores. As you can see, I followed many suggestions of you and put a price of 1$ on the app. We will discuss this in a few days again.
Source code will be published at github here in a few days when I´m finished with some code cleanups.
Can someone please confirm that this is the correct link to the AppStore for iKeePass, due I don´t have a USA itunes account?
I got a few responses from my last post asking for new developers. I will contact you in the next two days.
Current News #7: iPhone Simulator test version
October 22nd, 2009If you want to run a demo version of iKeePass it is now possible on your Mac. Running the demo version requires an installed iPhone Simulator or xcode. The demo version can be downloaded here.
NOTE: This file runs only in the simulator environment - not on your iPhone.
Please unzip the downloaded file to :
~/Library/Application Support/iPhone Simulator/User/Applications/
You should see a new folder (“0134BA76-2D08-4DF0-8666-B8DC5EA3AD58″) containing all necessary files. iKeePass will be automatically installed on the next start of the iPhone Simulator.
If you are an iPhone developer and want to join the iKeePass development team, please contact me.
Update: This is version hell: you must have the same OSX Snow Leopard and the same xcode version installed as me.
Current News #6: New submission to Apple
October 6th, 2009I just submitted a new version of iKeePass to the Apple iPhone store . Let´s hope this time we got approved. As many of you suggest in the comments, I added the test database directly into the login dialog, so now you just have to click the “open” button and enter the password “password” to get startet with the test account.
Update 10/16/2009 No response from Apple yet.
Update 10/22/2009

Current News #4: Rejected again
July 21st, 2009
iKeePass is rejected again due supposed missing documentation of the test account. The documentation didnt change in the last subscriptions. Any help how I should change the documentation here appreciated.
Need for change
April 28th, 2009The first attempt for the Apple review process was rejected due some needed changes. E.g. we have to display the correct network status when downloading a keepass database. We will fix this requests and hope there will not follow more requests.
Update 3. June 2009: Rejected again. Apple wants some error messages to be changed.
Good news&bad news
April 20th, 2009
Since I moved to a new appartment I didn´t have a real internet access during the last months ;-(
I got contacted by a apple employee which is responsible for the crypto export stuff. Since the status of BIS for open source seems more complicated as thought before, in the first step we will publish iKeePass just in the USA and Canada. For these two countries, there is now crypto export status needed. This is good news for all of us, because now iKeePass will be reviewed by Apple and hopefully be published in the AppStore.
When this is done, the source code of iKeePass will be published and we can continue to solve the crypto BIS problems so we get published in all other countries too.
If there are any people out there with more experience with the BIS stuff, please get in contact with me!
