Here are some of the new features of iKeePass version 1.1:
- Tap on username will copy the username to the clipboard
- Tap on password will copy the password to the clipboard
- Tap on the URL will open the URL and copy the password to the clipboard
- GUI user feedback when something is copied to the clipboard
- Comments will display all lines.
- “Close” button will return to the login dialog.
Source code is already at github. iKeePass version 1.1 is already sent to the App Store, but not yet released by Apple.
Update: Not yet released by Apple, no response until now.
You all rock.
I just recently installed keepass on my work PC.
Then I thought… What about the Mac I have at home? Presto! KeepassX.
Then I got an iPhone. So naturally, I thought, “What about Keepass for the I phone?” And…Presto!
Well, not completely presto. I’m in Amsterdam. But progress seems good. Please let me know if I can do anything to help sort out the export thing. I’m not a programmer though.
Excellent news! That’s a very quick response to user feedback.
By the way, I thought some of the negative comments on release 1.0 were undeserved and rather childish. Keep up the good work on this app.
That’s great news!!!
Such a quick update with so many useful functions is just great!!
One more feature request I have, would be great to be integrated in one of the next versions:
I would like to have the possibility to see and open my attachments of an entry. e.g. I have a picture (.jpg) attached to an entry. It would be great if I could open that attachment and even maybe save it to my pictures.
Keep up the good work!!
Thank you very much for the updates, great work!
Completely agree with Brian – 100%. Comments were undeserved and rather childish.
People with support problems should go to http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=215920 and log your issue (the link you follow on the itunes app page for support problems).
Thank you Karsten. For me, 1.0 is awesome enough. Any new features you can give will only make a great product even better. $.99 WELL SPENT!
Ok, I’ll wait for it…. which one will it be???????
“You don’t understand, when I pay for an application I expect nothing but perfection from the start” …
Or, “I don’t mind paying for an app, but in MY case “.
And then there’s the “Well, I’m glad yours works, but mine does not… I demand action”.
Or “You’re being one of the sheeple who blindly praise keepass and accept mediocrity through life.”
whatever. Can’t wait for 1.1!
how far from the eu version guys?
tnx
Great update. Keep up the great work.
Any ideas or estimation when will it be available in European app stores?..
Keep up the great work!
grrr… how log do we have to wait in EU for the App?
every day I’m thinking more and more to convert my keepass databases into other format… mSecure looks good but has no import function from keepass – this makes me to wait one, two more weeks, but then I have to have something to manage my passwords… hope till then we get iKeePass in EU store.
best,
ContactSign.com
by the way: I’m looking for iPhone developer to write an iPhone Client for my Portal. More details here: http://www.contactsign.com/sign_developer.asp
thanks,
Magic
Will this new version be compatible with keepass 2.x? If not, is there a tool that I can use to convert my 2.x files to 1.x version.
@AJ: no, iKeePass cannot read kdbx (Version 2) files. You can use the File/Export function in KeePass Version 2 to export the database in a kdb database format.
Please check this comment too, which describes a automatic workflow for this using the version 2 triggers of Keepass:
http://ikeepass.de/bl0g/?p=143&cpage=3#comment-3120
I’m using mSecure and even if it is a nice product its desktop companion is not free and far less functional than keepass (Mac or PC).
I’m waiting for EU version of iKeepass, hope it will come soon.
BTW : THX Karsten for your work. If I can help for a french translation don’t hesitate to contact me.
Cheers.
Great app!
I eagerly await the ability to copy and paste!
1 hope the app store updates it to 1.1 soon!
Is it possible to download the source code and compile it by myself and transfer it to the iPhone afterwards?
Thx for your help.
How difficult would it be to include an scp client? It would be awesome if I could get it to point to the same, secure, file that I already sync with in iKeepass. Already bought it, but it would be a real nice to have.
Waiting for the EU version too. And as Jean-Luc mentioned for the French language, if you need Dutch translations you can contact me.
Hi,
hört sich echt toll an!
Wisst ihr denn schon wann ungefähr die App im deutschen store veröffentlicht wird?
Hope it soon will be available in the european/danish store.
I have just KeePass a long time, and it would be great to have it on the Iphone/Ipod.
Regards Erik
Hallo
Super, warte auch auf die Version für Europa/CH
Und der Euro dafür ist schon reserviert;-)
Awesome! Once people understand what’s going on, hopefully they’ll quit posting 1-star ratings, cuz this deserves at least a 4-star! (Which is what I gave it in my review.)
I’m looking forward to getting v1.1!
Thank you for the update! Keep up the good work!
People are much more demanding and rude when commenting over the web than they are in person. What were they expecting from version 1, software perfection? It’s an iterative process that benefits from constructive criticism and support.
Will be happy to pay up when it arrives in the EU app store.
Any update on when this might happen?
I paid for and installed the 1.0 version of iKeePass and downloaded my Database.kdb file onto my iPhone. However, when I enter my password in iKeePass, the application says my database is corrupted. I checked the file back on my Mac and it works fine. I also tried deleting the Database.kdb file from the iPhone and re-downloading it to no avail.
Is this a known issue? What is the workaround. Otherwise, I’ll be regretting the 0,99€ that I spent on it
Please let me know how to get this awesome app working correctly.
I have disvovered that the specific problem with ikeepass version 1 is that it will not open a file with a folder tree greater than 2 folders deep.
I hope this is repaired in the next version.
Yeah, thumbs up, Carsten, you are awesome! Thank you, that you didn’t loose you courage over the dispute and the non-cooperativeness of and struggle with Apple. Their policy often sucks. Thank you for keeping up the work for the benefit of the users.
Our NGO is using KeePass for managing dozens of server-, mail- and web 2.0-accounts and share it throughout our techteam – and besides the linux-, windows- and mac-version, your iphone-version is the icing on the cake!
And yes: this is an app I would definitely pay for.
Best regards,
Ricardo Cristof
Thanks for the great app! I have been waiting for that.
One suggestion:
The application is mixing configuration and usage. The application focus should be on the existing kdb’s and how to use them. Just the list of kdb’s and the open button.
Configuration should be a separate page, accessed through a button. Configuration should include download of kdb’s as well as the option to refresh or not (per DB?)
Keep up the great work!
Wann kommt das App denn endlich nach Deutschland?
Hi Karsten,
how do Sourceforge and github play together?
You started the project on SF and now placed the code on github. Where should bugs, feature requests etc be tracked. On the bugtracker page you refer to SF but github also offers trackers.
Do you already want external and new entries additional to the ones in SF tracker or should we wait until you have covered those?
Just want to understand how you want to handle this in future.
Sebastian
I guess that I was a little hasty in shelling out my dollar for this app. I should have read the directions more before paying for this app. Really I can’t see why anyone would want it.
As I understand it, the only way to actually sync it with my desktop is to install a version of keepass, (keepassx) which in the download portion tells me that if I am using windows that there is a better version for me, and recommends that I download it instead. (Keepass 2.0). Ok so I ignore that, since the directions say it i-keepass won’t work with keepass 2.0 and download keepassx, which is woefully short on features compared to keepass 2.0. Why no support for the admitted better product?
Ok now what do I have to do to get the crippled keepassx to sync with my i-phone. Read directions, this has to be easy right…. No I am supposed to install a version of Apache Friends to make my desktop computer into a web server…. WTF, why would I want to do that?
OK fine lets play with the app in the demo mode, after all this seems to be all that it is actually any good for…. Hey how do I add passwords using the i-phone to the database….. Can’t find it in the interface…. Oh there is no way to enter them. The app only supports reading the database….. You have to enter them on the desktop and then you can only read them on the i-phone.
There has to be another way. Someone explain this to me how to do this without installing an unsecured web server to my desktop. I have access to a number of other servers on line. I could not get the file once uploaded to a secure location to be loaded by the i-keeper app either.
Is this app ever going to be able to write to the database?
Here is a deal for you guys. You help me understand how in the heck to actually make this a useful application and I will write a readable piece of documentation that will allow other users to actually use it. Any takers?
Oh I really liked the video for the people at apple with the beer in it. I guess that I paid a dollar at this point for some good German humor!
Guy
Hey,
looking forward to the app for iPhone to be sold on European Appstore!
Thanks for your work!
Tom
It was easy to get with the HFS program that was recommended. It took maybe 30 sec. I can’t wait for 1.1 to get approved. Great job.
Thank you, thank you, thank you to the developers for iKeepass. It’s the one thing that has kept the iphone from being great. Keep up the great work.
Hmm
the sourcecode is availiable, but how can i get it on my iphone from the sourcecode ?
Is there a detailed installation how-to for 1.1 version somewhere?
Or why is the sourcecode on github???
thanks
If you have a jailbroken iphone, ipod touch, then you can install ikeepass regardless of where you live
1.1 has been seen out there in the wild wild web…
Hey guys, it’s really classy to tell people to steal someone’s software on that guy’s site.
Wow…Thanks for updating the great app!
I have been waiting for iKeepass, since I managed all pwd using Keepass on PC and Keepassj2me on mobile phone, however (still) should be waiting more to get it from local AppStore…don’t want break operator warranty ;-(
Keep up the good work!
@hans
I can only find 1.0 at my ordinary places. Can u give us a hint?
I have no ploblem paying… however, I can’t pay becauce US export regulations prevents me from purchasing it.
Gimme a paypal invoice and i’ll pay it at once.
Until I can pay for it then alternative download is the only choice.
This apps looks great!!!! I was looking for something like that and I do not want to pay for other apps already available on the EU app store. I want iKeepass.
But when will it be available for us, poor european????
Please answer me… I can’t wait anymore.
Love your work. As soon as you can please add a New Zealand version!! PLlleasseeeee
@Smart The source code are online available because some parts of the code are based on gpl based code like the database functions of the original KeePass.
Compiling it yourself need a xcode environment and a Apple iPhone Developer account which costs money. Then you need to create your own Application profiles on a Apple web site.
@Andres, when iKeepass becomes availlable in Germany’s Appstore, I will buy it. But for now I have no problem with using a stolen version. Especially since Karsten always claimed he wanted it to offer for free and only slapped a price tag on it so Apple reacts faster.

anyone has checked MyKeePass ?
