iKeePass version 1.2 is now online in the App store. We are sorry but this version is still only available in the USA and Canadue due the still going on discussions about the BIS export license.
Update: We will publish a fixed version as soon as possible for the folder/subfolder error. For an intermediate workaround see e.g. here.

But please understand me right: I don´t have a prob to give some bucks to someone who efford a lot of time and sweat in programming something. I can’t get it to work.. Maybe I misunderstand it.
I have my keepass database on a web / ftp server, this keeps all of my computers in sync. When I type in the server name etc .. Nothing happens.
Not sure how to proceed. No step by step instructions that I could find.
Really want to use it though.
Workaround.
Add a New Entry in the Main Group of any subfolder. Then save the file.
Then go on your iPhone and make sure “use local data base” is turned OFF.
You should be able to see all of the passwords. This has worked for me.
**Note**Even if you have a General Folder and all your Sub Folders are under it, it will not work. You have to add a New Entry in the General Folder to see all the Sub Folders.
I am no longer able to grab my Database.kdb off my Mac’s webserver using iKeepass as before. I can get to it with a browser but using iKeepass on my iPhone, it asks for the password, displays an HUD saying “opening database” and then nothing

@me: yes this is how you can get into the US-iTunes store but you can’t get ikeepass this way because it is not a free app. When you want to get apps that you need to pay for you are screwed because you can’t pay with non US credit cards or paypal accounts
I bought this app because it works so well on the PC. I am getting no use whatsoever with the iPhone app. I have made up a local server, pointed to the proper shared file location, made sure that I exported the proper .kdb file to the shared location, made sure that all of the folders have at least one dummy file in them. When I go to the proper location on my Apache server using the iPhone the app tells me it’s loading BUT never loads the .kdb. The new .kdb files show up on the iPhone spin dial but will not load. I t seems as though it is accepting the password but does nothing. No blue progress line showing that the database is loading. The shared file loads perfectly well under KeePass 1.7 as a .kdb database on my PC. All the info shows up on my PC . It does not load on my iPhone at all.
The sample file that is provided loads with no problem on the iPhone, but my real world file of 90+ entries does not. Nor does it give you any info as to WHY it does not work. I am very disappointed in this latest version (1.2).

You can get a US-Itunes-Gift Card from ebay in Germany if necessary to buy content from the US-store. I did that as well because there are other apps only available in the US-store.
@michael: I know and since I’m going to the US in a fortnight, this is what I’m going to do. I should have mentioned this additional step above. I was just annoyed by ME posting this as the way to get ikeepass when it is not complete…
you can you lastpass with iphone while you wait for this app to work or just abandon this app.
lastpass can import keepass db’s and works great on iphone and all platforms and browsers
JIMMY: Your work around doesn’t seem to be working. Maybe you could please define New Entry more clearly. Is it a new subfolder under the general one or a new password entry? If it works I’ll be able to use this for the first time ever. thanks

I would setup a separate machine with a US-based version of iTunes, but I would be concerned about updates. However, if it’s likely to be a number of months (for example), I’ll go ahead and setup that separate machine
By the way, this app looks great and I have no problem paying for this at all. Great work!
Just got done with fixing a laptop and I’m tired. It had a nasty bunch of viruses on it took hours to clean and renstall antivirus software. Just thought that I would pop over and see what is new. Still nothing, hummpf, geting a little worried that I bought an app that I will never be able to use properly. Still a good idea just not planned out first and then rolled out. Sounds like the dreaded (MS) company, hummmmmmmm… Well enough of my bable, very tired going to slzzzzzzzzzzz…

The Notes field doesn’t seem to show all lines all the time. I have one entry that’s showing around 45 lines, then stops…..then I have another entry that only shows around 10 lines, then stops.
I store a LOT of info in the Notes section. Is there some workaround for this by doing something on my PC?
First, version 1.2 is a great improvement over the previous version. I definitely appreciate being able to cut/paste long passwords.
Second, I too have the search problem. Nothing I type in the search field returns *any* result at all. Am I missing some important information, or is this feature just not working yet? I can’t spot any solution here in the forum, or even confirmation that it’s a known problem.
Hello, is there anybody out there? Well I’ve been busy looking over all the stuff out here and haven’t seen any updates as of yet for the app. I’ve been fixing things for awhile and thought I would check in. Nothing yet I see but I’m hopefull that the people will have a fix soon. Crossing my fingers and toes Ouch! well maybe not the toes.
I’ve tried the combination 1pass (desktop+iphone)… it sucks compared KeePassX ! but there’s no iPhone version to buy in the italian App Store…

Yes, mykeepass looks intriguing and the Dev is making efforts to provide actual status updates.
Maybe there can be some collaboration in this venture.
It’s tough to keep holding out on iKeepass when there is zero word or update from the developer for months at a time.
Two big problems in addition to the empty group issue:
- no ability to sort
- search does not work
Why ikeepass is unavailable in Europe whereas MyKeePass is available ?

I’m now getting an error as soon as ikeepass retrieves the .kdb from my server… Open Database … database Loaded… IKeepass Couldn’t load Database! Possible wrong URL name
(To get the .kdb file, I Export Keepass KDB (1.x) and upload it to my server)
Any advice appreciated.

Mykeepass is availlable in the itunes store. Look for it so you will know whether it is availlable in your country. I know it is availlable in the german store.
And yes mykeepass opens keepass databases (silly question anyway…)
the author seems to work on opening 2.0 databases as well, btw.

While I totally agree on private time, holidays, private lives and jobs, there’s always the commitment to your product or a disclaimer instead (“I don’t recommend relying on this or that”, etc.) If none, then at least a simple note: “I’m working on it, ETA 2 months” or “I stopped working on it, buzz off.”
The workaround link sends to an useless comment (for the working around purpose that is). And I am at the point where I have to haul around a laptop to be able to see passwords on location, or to download them on the customers’ machines, which I absolutely hate.
As much as I love Keepass (and live off of it) I’ll give it a couple of weeks more, then move on. If you love somebody, set them free…
PS – I bought the app, and I was / am willing to donate for the Mac / Win version if need be, just to see it working again.

@Philip, it’s just the most frustrating project I follow. No news or any post for months, no non-US store release in two years, and again, the quick update is not coming for two months now… and as always no progress report at all…

Another day and another time to work on electronics. Well I’ve checked in with here again and all seems to be the same, quiet. I’ve been working on electronics for most of my life and am currently waiting on two things now, OS 4.0 for my iphone and iKeepass. There is no blog I like for Apple and lets face it if not for the iphone/ipad(iphone zoomed in or itouch on steroids) then apple would be in dire straights financlly<-spelling? iKeepass seems to be one of those apps that are on what I see as the brink of making it or breaking it. From what I've seen the top gross profits for iKeepass seems little compared to others so hence the brink statement. I really need to donate more often. But with the current quiet situration with this area I just don't know. I will see after the new release comes out.
I’d happily pay you to access the IPA file so that those of us with a jail-broken phone can install the software and bypass iTunes and consequently the issues with export restrictions of the US. bad i know, but just an idea.
i currently VNC into a bare-bones virtual machine with the desktop version running.

BUT I do not really attack its lack of progress, I attack the lack of communication. Carsten seems not to be able to communicate with us. Is he still working on it? Is he fed up and we look here in vain? I’d really like to know whats going on…
Dom…. why attack at all? You seem to be one of those types that likes to get your fustrations out on the world wheather they deserve it or not. Not everything is given in one day. Patience <-spelling? is a vertue that you seem to be lacking. I like to see people like you stress over such little things that you get ulcers and the like.
